Marc Smith, DVM of Natchez Trace Veterinary Services in Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee:
“So what in the hell is a damn animal chiropractor? I mean, when I first heard that I thought it was a joke. That was about 15 years ago. But since, I have learned a whole lot differently. Ladies and gentlemen I’m Dr. Marc Smith, the veterinarian at Natchez Trace Veterinary Services and animal chiropractic is kinda, pretty cool. And the reason why is because animal chiropractic gives me the opportunity to help animals in different, better ways. For instance, now I can localize pain, and find out where it comes from. And I can do a lot of things to ease the discomfort and pain of your pet without giving pharmaceuticals. So if you want to know more options on how to treat your pets, then give us a call at 615-790-8100 and lets review the options.”

Marc Smith, DVM: So, alternative therapies, they have a very controversial history in veterinary medicine. I don’t care, I don’t give a damn. All I know is that some of them help. Otherwise, I wouldn’t do them.

When treating tumors, I have seen, I have witnessed, and I have done it. Tumors that regressed from treatments that are not considered mainstream. I’ve seen it, I’ve done it.

So, some of the alternative therapy treatments I use, it’s mostly going to be with cancer. Not all of them work. No, they don’t. Not all conventional treatments work.
But, I can tell you this, using conventional alongside alternatives is the best, by far. It’s not even close, it’s better. You get better results. It’s less harmful to the animal. And ultimately, it costs less.

So, if you’re interested in some of the alternative treatments we provide, then give us a call at 615-750-2248.

Marc Smith, DVM of Natchez Trace Veterinary Services in Nashville & Franklin TN:

If you’re interested in this concept of progressive veterinary medicine and what it means, let me start off by telling you a story.

I was a young veterinarian coming out. I knew what I was doing, strutting my stuff, and I had this tumor in this horse’s eye. And I’d been haggling around with it, spending all kind of money. Doing this, doing that, and nothing seemed to work. And one of my colleagues, who was an older gentleman, he said, “Marc, try some of this in this horse’s eye.”

Well, I didn’t believe him, but I did it because I didn’t really have anything else to do. And guess what? It made the tumor go away. I injected a medicine into the tumor. I took some older gentleman’s knowledge and I put it to use and I injected that tumor and gone. It was gone.

And so that kind of sums up this idea of progressive veterinary medicine. And what it means is, it means taking the old knowledge and mixing it with the new. It means taking the new and mixing it with the old. The Eastern and the Western, in a variety of treatments to ultimately help your pet. But then we take it a step further through this idea of communication, constant support in your decisions about your pets. Peace of mind that you’ve made the right choice. And we all deliver through giving you options so that you feel empowered, in control, so that you can make the best choice for your pet.

If you’re interested in this concept of progressive veterinary medicine, give us a call at 615-750-2248, and see how we can help your pet.

“So people ask me all the time: Hey Marc, why do you do all this alternative treatment? I mean, why do you do acupuncture on pets? Does it help?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m Dr. Marc Smith, I’m the veterinarian at Natchez Trace Veterinary Services.

You see, I started practicing in 1998 and at that time I just did regular old veterinary medicine. I did the same things that everybody else does.

About 10 years ago, I started wondering: Are all these treatments, you know, is that all I’ve got to offer people?

Well I found out that there is a better way, and that way is to combine what I knew, Western Traditional Science, with all these alternative treatments because it’s better. Otherwise, I wouldn’t do it.

So if you need help with your pet of you have questions about all these alternative treatments or eastern treatments, then call us at 615-790-8100 and learn how we can help your pet.”

So you want to know about traditional veterinary medicine and how we do it. You see, when I first came in to practice 20 years ago, we just had the plain old veterinarian.

We didn’t have all these specialists, all these people that you had to go see when your dog hurt his foot, or his ear itched, or he had diarrhea or whatever.

We just had veterinarians, and that’s the way I learned, and that’s the way I was trained. And I think that’s the best way, and the reason why is because I’ve seen a lot, and I’ve done a lot over that time. Because at one time, I was only the veterinarian.

So some of the services I offer include surgery on a lot of different things. Dermatology, cancer treatments, internal medicine and a lot of different treatments.

They get you from point A to point B fast, quickly, and most importantly, efficiently and in the best interest of your pet. But on top of that, I also can include all these other services like Eastern Medicine and Eastern Exam and alternative therapies to make my traditional medicine even better.

So if you want to learn how we can help your pet, then give us a call at 615-750-2248.

If you want to know about this concept of holistic veterinary medicine and really what it means to me, let me give you an idea. In conventional medicine, typically we look at just the symptoms of the disease, and is your dog itching, or is your cat itching.

Is your cat throwing up hairballs? Then in holistic veterinary medicine, what we do is we look at a bunch of different factors that can play a role in the way your pets exhibit disease.

For instance, if you have a kitty cat that all of a sudden starts peeing all over the house, did something change in the environment? Did you bring in a new cat? Did you change the diet? Is there family situation dynamics that are changing that are impacting your kitty cat? That’s kind of a holistic view of veterinary medicine and pets.

That’s exactly what we do here at Natchez Trace Veterinary Services. Now, the term “holistic”, whatever, it doesn’t matter. It’s “are you trying to expand to get better, to deliver more to the owner, you, and to the pet?”

That’s what we do. If you’re interested in what we do, then give us a call at 615-750-2248.

Watch as Marc Smith, DVM performs cryosurgery on a 17-year-old cat. Cryosurgery uses extreme cold to destroy diseased or damaged tissue. Dr. Smith often uses cryosurgery in his pet cancer treatment plans.

Dr. Smith:  Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Doctor Marc Smith, 20-year practicing veterinarian and co-creator of PET | TAO Holistic Pet Products, and I’m gonna work on this fine kitty. Do you all … Look at this great kitty. This is a 17-year-old kitty. Snowbell. This is a good little geriatric kitty that gets really nervous in here. And what I’m gonna do today, we can see this mass on the ear. I don’t know what kind of mass it is. It really doesn’t matter. There are really two options on this thing. You cut it off right there and that would require anesthesia and we don’t wanna do that because Snowbell is 17 years old and above all, we don’t wanna do anything that’s gonna harm Snowbell.

So what we’re gonna do and what I’m gonna demonstrate is this product right here, it’s called the Cool Renewal. It’s a simple, easy way to get cryosurgery in your clinic. It comes in a spray can and I’m gonna show you how it’s gonna work. We don’t even have to use any anesthesia or any sedation or anything of Snowbell and we’ll get that thing off. And it’ll take about a week and it’ll dry up and go off. I did about two years ago. See entire script at:
