Norfolk is so beautiful! From the quaint and picturesque riverside communities in Norwich, to the piers and docks along the Norfolk Broads, to the grey seal communities, and the lush gardens and historic grounds of the Blickling Estate dating back to hundreds of years!

Aicelle and I were truly blessed to be able to see all of this together with some cast members of the Miss Saigon UK tour and our foster parents in Norwich Kuya Dave and Tita Ressie Carter who took us on an unforgettable boat ride complete with all the Filipino food that we all missed!

We really hope to have a chance to visit this beautiful slice of heaven in the United Kingdom again.

All videos filmed and edited on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Kansas Ghost Adventures 62 : The Gateway to Hell

Views:900|Rating:4.52|View Time:17:59Minutes|Likes:19|Dislikes:2
The Legend of Stull Cemetery has gained an ominous reputation due to urban legends involving Satan, the occult, and a purported “gateway to Hell”. During the 20th century, the settlement suffered two major tragedies. The first occurred when a young boy wandered into a field that his father was burning and died. The second occurred when a man was found hanging from a tree after going missing. Rumors about the cemetery were popularized by a November 1974 issue of the University Daily Kansan (the student newspaper of the University of Kansas), which claimed that the Devil himself appeared in Stull twice a year: once on Halloween, and once on the spring equinox. After this article, the legend began to grow, eventually becoming more and more exaggerated. Soon, people said that the cemetery was the location of one of the seven gates to Hell. Eventually, the nearby Evangelical Emmanuel Church ruin became part of the story. People claimed that it was “possessed” by the Devil, and that bottles thrown against its wall would not be shattered. When the chapel’s roof was destroyed during a storm, some said that rain water would not fall into the structure, even though its interior was exposed to the elements. With all this said, most academics, historians, and local residents are in agreement that the legend of the cemetery is false, not based on local folklore, and is perhaps best explained as the product of imaginative college students.
Following the initial University Daily Kansan article was published, students from KU journeyed to the cemetery, often on Halloween, in the hopes of glimpsing the paranormal. For instance, on March 20, 1978—the date of the spring equinox—over 150 people showed up to see if the legend was true. However, over the years, the number of people visiting began to take its toll on the cemetery; people began vandalizing tombstones as well as the interior of the chapel. To combat this, local police have discouraged curiosity seekers from entering the cemetery, especially on Halloween, and some people have been arrested for trespassing. When the cemetery is closed, trespassing could bring a maximum fine of $1,000 and up to six months in jail.
Despite its dubious origins, the legend of Stull Cemetery has been referenced numerous times in works of popular culture. The band Urge Overkill released the Stull EP in 1992, which features the church and a tombstone from the cemetery on the cover. Films whose plot is based on the legends include Sin-Jin Smyth, Nothing Left to Fear, and Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal. The cemetery is also the site of the final confrontation between Lucifer and Michael in “Swan Song”, the season five finale of the television series Supernatural. In a 2006 interview, Eric Kripke (the creator of Supernatural and the showrunner during its first five seasons) revealed that he had made Sam and Dean Winchester (the series’ protagonists) be from Lawrence because of the city’s closeness to Stull.

[the following was copied from the concert program]

White is a dove
And lily of the valley
And a puddle of milk
Spilled in an alley —
A ship’s sail
A kite’s tail
A wedding veil
Hailstones and
Halibut bones
And some people’s
The hottest and most blinding light
Is white.
And breath is white
When you blow it out on a frosty night.
White is the shining absence of all color
Then absence is white
Out of touch
Out of sight.
White is marshmallow
And vanilla ice cream
And the part you can’t remember
In a dream.
White is the sound
Of a light foot walking
White is the beautiful
Broken lace
Of snowflakes falling
On your face.
You can smell white
In a country room
Toward the end of May
In the cherry bloom.

Blue is the color of the sky
Without a cloud
Cool, distant, beautiful
And proud,
Blue is the quiet sea
And the eyes of some people,
And many agree
As they grow older and older
Blue is the scarf
Spring wears on her shoulder,
Blue is twilight,
Shadows on snow,
Blue is feeling
Way down low.
Blue is a heron,
A sapphire ring,
You can smell blue
In many a thing:
Gentian and larkspur
Forget-me-nots, too.
And if you listen
You can hear blue
In wind over water
And wherever flax blooms
And when evening steps into
Lonely rooms.
Cold is blue:
Flame shot from a welding torch
Is, too:
Hot, wild, screaming, blistering Blue —
And on winter mornings
The dawns are blue…

Gold is a metal
Gold is a ring
Gold is a very
Beautiful thing.
Gold is the sunshine
Light and thin
Warm as a muffin
On your skin.
Gold is the moon
Gold are the stars;
Jupiter, Venus,
Saturn and Mars,
Gold is the color of
Clover honey
Gold is a certain
Kind of money.
Gold is alive
In a flickering fish
That lives its life
In a crystal dish.
Gold is the answer
To many a wish.
Gold is feeling
Like a king
It’s like having the most
Of everything –
Long time ago
I was told
Yellow’s mother’s name
Is gold…

Red is a sunset
Blazing and bright.
Red is feeling brave
With all your might.
Red is a sunburn
Spot on your nose,
Sometimes red
Is a red, red rose.
Red squiggles out
When you cut your hand.
Red is a brick
And a rubber band.
Red is a hotness
You get inside
When you’re embarrassed
And want to hide.
Fire-cracker, fire-engine
Fire-flicker red —
And when you’re angry
Red runs through your head.
Red is a Valentine heart,
The trimmings on
A circus cart.
Red is a lipstick,
Red is a shout,
Red is a signal
That says: “Watch out!”
Red is a great big
Rubber ball,
Red is the giant-est
Color of all.
Red is a show-off,
No doubt about it —
But can you imagine
Living without it?

“I have always felt there is a strong connection between visual colors and musical colors. When I came across the poems in Mary O’Neill’s book Hailstones and Halibut Bones, I tried to capture the different colors with scales and intervals that seemed to match them. Strong colors are expressed with dissonant sounds while softer colors are described with whole tones and gentler sounds, Red is in a key with sharps, Blue is in a key with flats and White has no sharps or flats.” — R. Watson Henderson
Canadian Watson Henderson is a highly regarded concert pianist, accompanist and composer of music for organ, piano, violin, string orchestra, and more than 80 choral pieces. Her works are known for their use of modal and impressionistic harmonies. Although commissioned for the Toronto Children’s Chorus (in 2000) this music and poetry is far from childish and is a challenge to sing. Since its original publication in 1961, O’Neill’s Hailstones and Halibut Bones has become a modern children’s classic.

The performance took place on Sunday, 2016 April 24 at Northbrae Community Church in Berkeley, CA.
