Recall command in water, dog training info

So important that dogs have a great recall if you are going to have them off leash. Having a dog recall off leash in water, especially a high drive dog with both prey and hunt drives can save the dogs life. This is a great example of how this training can be applied in the real world.

Remote Collar recall drills Dog Training GSD

Doing some great recall drills with a young GSD puppy, utilizing low level of remote collars it is a great way to work dogs on all commands but with recall the dog will have bombproof recall as the dog gets older. We do fun drills like this to start creating muscle memory with the dog. Low level remote collar training can be used with dogs at this age, since there is no shocking or zapping, we are just conditioning the dog to the remote.
Solid K9 Training offers board and train services for all breeds, and ages. Board and train is primarily for dog behavior modification because doing so, produces fantastically behaved obedient dogs. Solid K9 Training offers both private classes and Board and Train services for dog training and behavior modification. Solid K9 Training teaches basic obedience such as proper leash walking, sit, down and come to puppies (puppy development) and adult dogs alike.

Training my labrador retriever dog. Whistle recall and environmental agility. Jamie Penrith

Jamie penrith of take the lead dog training.
How do I train a dog? Through a healthy balance of motivation, based on reward training; consistent repetition of consequences; establishing boundaries and discipline early on; understanding what makes each dog tick and so developing a healthy relationship between my dogs and myself. The same consistent method – namely fair, situational training, with a committed undertone of enhancing welfare and establishing freedom through control. This might involve clicker; verbal marker training; whistle trained commands; slip lead or leash pressure; physical pressure; verbal and spatial pressure and e-collar pressure and a TON of love and respect for being the amazing animal that is the dog!
If you would like to build your relationship with your dog or young puppy; if you would like to learn more about how to train your dog to perform reliably and how to use a variety of different training tools to get the very best out of your relationship with your dogs; contact Jamie Penrith either through his website www.taketheleadtraining.co.uk or email him directly at: [email protected]

Recall Training for All Dogs How To Dog Training

This is a great video to show how you can start on a bunch of commands and focus work for your dog. The Recall Command (come or here) the Sit Command, Focus Work and then also the Break command…you do not need to feed your dog out of a bowl at all, this is the first time I am working with this dog and the dog came in not knowing any commands and out of control on the leash.

Off leash recall, What Would Jeff Do? Dog Training Tip of the Day #124

Views:702|Rating:nan|View Time:3:31Minutes|Likes:|Dislikes:
What Would Jeff Do? Dog Training Tip of the Day #124

Off leash recall is a life saver and if you don’t have it don’t have your dog off leash.

I am motivated by this by a news story that was sent to me today from Juneau Alaska of 2 dogs that where off leash hiking and charged a bear and where instantly killed by the bear, at no fault of the bear, thats what happens in the wild, animals kill and are killed.

Though the chances of your dog charging a bear and be killed are extremely slim, but not having your dog under voice control (meaning when you call your back to you it immediately turns and runs to you and stops what it was doing, no matter what the distraction is) if you cannot do that you should not have your dog off leash in areas that have dangerous situation, which can include, on leash dogs, children, adults, bikers, joggers, streets, cars, trucks and many things that can cause harm or death to your dog or your dog can cause harm to something else.

Please don’t be so un-self aware that your dog will not cause harm to something else, over and over I am getting messages about off leash dogs rushing people and dogs walking and the off leash dogs are attacking and/or jumping on or running up to and barking at people and dogs. Meanwhile the owners have zero voice control or any general control and are actually upset at the “victim” instead of taking full responsibility. Your dog should not be off leash.

The cool thing is that you can have a reliable recall with a dog under high levels of distractions in a couple of months or shorter, and a remote collar is a fantastic tool to not only speed that along but also to proof the dog under high levels of distractions.

Whenever I use the term “speed” or imply that the training can be done quick or quicker it gets turned into a negative like someone would be taking shortcuts. That is the farthest thing from the truth. Bottom line across the board and dog trained on a remote collar is going to have a better and more reliable recall than a dog that is not trained on one. Also you can train more dogs on a reliable recall on a remote collar then dogs without one.

I am not saying you cannot get a reliable recall without using a remote collar, of course you can (but you will be using some sort of punishment for noncompliance as you need to in order to proof it) Not many folks can call their dog in high drive off of a bear, but many of us (the average pet dog owner) that have trained our dogs on remote collars can easily do it.

The bigger point being that having a off leash trained dog under voice control can be accomplished and save your dogs life.

3 MISTAKES Dog Trainers Make and How to AVOID Them: #1 Stay to Recall – Dog Training Videos

Views:7755|Rating:4.90|View Time:5:59Minutes|Likes:348|Dislikes:7
There are several inherent problems in these common mistakes that dog trainers and dog owners make. The key issue is that these things confuse the dog and THAT can lead to a host of other problems.

I’d like to address the issues for you here one at a time.

The first of the three issues is that dog trainers will teach a dog to stay, then walk away and then RECALL the dog.

In this video I explain to you why this can be very unclear to your dog and how it can result in a very dangerous situation.

Week by week…
1) Conditioning
2) add a little distance
3) long line, add a lot of distance and distractions.

Once the behaviour of coming back is well established and working you can ease up on the food rewards and keep the dog guessing.
Vary the following rewards after your dog returns…
Toys/games(if your dog enjoys playing)

different foods
touch collar and release back to dogs/smells/distractions (can be a huge reward)

KEEP HIM GUESSING!!

Dog Training Place and Recall | Basic Obedience Dog Training

Bruno is working hard during his 3 week board and train program and we already see a change in him.
He came in lacking obedience skills and his owners needed some help getting him where they want him.
Bruno does not come when called, will steal things in the house and not give them back, barks when someone arrives at the dog, and is constantly begging for attention.
In this video, jordan is working with him on a combination of skills including place and recall. She is not overwhelming him with tons of verbal commands.
We want to set him up for success and not go too quickly right away.

Teach Your Dog to COME, the Recall – Robert Cabral Dog Training #12

The Recall / the COME command is perhaps one of the most important things you can teach your dog. Starting out with clear communication and then slowly introducing distractions teaches your dog this skill in a fair way.

In this video I’ll teach you my favorite method to recall a dog, the PREY RECALL. Using a toy and controlling your dog’s play will give you a solid recall.

Also covered in this video is “capping your dog’s drives.” A short point on controlling your dog and his drives.

Leash Training Your Dog Part 1 Using a Long Line and Treats – Dog Training Video

This video is about Leash Training your dog. Teaching a good leash walk is not as complicated as it is made out to be. In this video I address using a long line and using treats to get your dog to stay with you on a leash walk and conditioning her to enjoy the process.

When you train your dog, being next to you should be one of the core basics. If your dog enjoys being in your proximity, it will go a long way in building a solid relationship between you and your dog.
