To help pets and wild animals burned in the California wildfires, Dr. Jamie Peyton at UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and Dr. Deana Clifford at California Department of Fish and Wildlife have become the first veterinarians in the United States to treat animal burn victims with bandages made of fish skins, a creative new method of treating severe burn injuries, building scar tissue, and easing pain. Tilapia skin bandages have helped heal bears, mountain lions, dogs, and cats from the Thomas Fire, Carr Fire, and Camp Fire.

How To Put Fish Oil on Wrinkles To Keep Young Skin

It is not necessary for fine lines to appear before you start an anti-aging treatment. In fact, it is better if you start one when they are not there! But very few of us actually do that. We run to the cosmetic counters in shopping malls or start reading beauty articles when we spot a line or two in our face.

The regimen that most of us end up with, especially before bedtime, is to wash our face and put on some good moisturizer or overnight cream. We also make sure to put the former on during the day as well. But there is another regimen we may follow to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, and that involves putting fish oil on wrinkles.

We all know that fish, especially those that are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, are great for the heart as well as brain. They are also equally good for your skin, as fish oil prevents inflammation that can worsen the wrinkles on your face. Even psoriasis is seen to be under control if you regularly have fish oil supplements.

To quicken up the process, you can also use the fish oil directly on your wrinkles. This method will not only reduce the appearance of wrinkles by rehydrating your skin, but will also reduce acne which many of us suffer even in adult ages. With regular application of fish oil on wrinkles, you are going to take years away from your face!

• Following the routine is quite simple. All you will need are some good quality fish oil capsules, a small knife, a small bowl and if you need, cotton balls. First, to put fish oil on wrinkles, you need to extract the oil from the capsule. For that, hold the capsule on one hand over a small bowl and with the small knife in another hand, gently pierce the capsule.

• Make sure you turn the slit on the bowl and gently squeeze the capsule to release the oil. Make sure you don’t apply too much pressure; otherwise the capsule may burst and oil will splatter everywhere.

• Now with the cotton ball or with your fingertips, gently dab this fish oil on wrinkles. Be sure to use it on all the problematic areas. Take care while applying near the eyes and make sure none of it gets in the eye.

• Now let the fish oil get slowly absorbed in the skin. It takes about 20 minutes for that. After this period, wash the area with clean water. Make sure you wash your face properly to remove all traces of excess fish oil. Lastly, don’t use any kind of makeup or even moisturizer for the next half hour or so. Do this fish oil on wrinkles treatment at least once a week to get good results.

Learn how to handle a snake who is shedding skin in this Howcast video about pet snakes.

Some of the basic things that we need to know about when our snake sheds is, they’re growing, and they’re literally growing out of their skin. It’s very important number one, that we realize that before they shed they’ll stop eating, so don’t be surprised if they don’t eat. Another signal is that they’ll develop eye caps. Their eyes will have either a grayish or silver cap to them, and then shortly thereafter you’ll start to notice that their color’s a little bit more dull.

Those are signals that we need to create a shed box for our snake and that’s very simple. It should be a box big enough to house the snake with one hole in it that they can get into, and you should use peat moss, or sphagnum moss. It should be moist. It should never be wet and this helps moisten. It’s very important that they have their water basin, because getting into the water helps moisten and helps them shed.

When they shed it should be in one piece. If it is not in one piece and isn’t consistent, in other words it should only take a few days, then that may be an indication that you need to get to the vet and have a look, because with most healthy snakes it is a very continual process. Once they shed, go ahead and remove the skin and discard it. There’s no benefit in keeping the skin in the terrarium.
There’s a couple of basic hints for the shedding of snakes.

Learn why snakes shed their skin in this Howcast video about pet snakes.

Our snakes shed because they are growing. What happens is is they literally will grow through their old skin. They’ll shed much more frequently when they are younger and snakes will shed all in one piece normally, whereas lizards many times you’ll get the shed in pieces. The snake also has spectacles over their eyes or eye caps, so just before they are ready to shed you’ll actually notice that their eyes will be a grayish or a silver.

Then shortly thereafter the color of snake will get duller and the reason for it is, the skin is actually starting to separate from the snake. The snake will need an area where they can actually get in and rub to get the skin off. A shed box is very easy to make. You normally will use peat moss or sphagnum moss. It needs to be moist and you put it into a shed box. It has got a little hole on it. They will go in. It should be just big enough for them to crawl around in, and it gives us enough humidity to where it moistens it and allows it to slip off, and there is some basic information on how a snake will shed.
